Though Sunday is a holiday for everyone, my parents have been busy since last month. My elder sister, who married two years ago, became a mother last month. So, my parents have taken responsibility for fostering the child and taking care of her. Jamaibabu, Didi’s husband, is now out of town due to some assignment work for his job.
I was sitting alone by the window, working on a job assignment on my laptop, when the doorbell rang. It was Chumki, our servant maid, aged in her mid-30s, who has been working for us since half a year ago. She arrived to wash dishes and clothes, and to do some other chores. She wore a yellow saree and yellow blouse; sweat popped up from her face and shoulder.
